ATTENDANCE TARGET = 95%
The link between attendance and attainment
Students with no absence are 2.2 times more likely to achieve 5 or more GCSEs or equivalent at grades 9 to 4 including English and mathematics than those students who have an attendance between 90 and 85% attendance.
Those students who have across KS4 an average of one week off per year (5 days) they have a 69% chance of achieving 5 standard passes whereas those of less than one week have a 79% chance of achieving.
This has been looked at in further detail and for each half day missed this equates to an equivalent of a 1.8% reduction in the likelihood of achieving five standard passes at GCSE. This statistic also includes authorised absence.
