PRESS RELEASE: 24th August 2017
The Bishop of Hereford’s Bluecoat School is celebrating a year of excellent GCSE results. The new grading system for English and Maths has been a challenge nationally with the increased content and difficulty.
At Bishop’s 68% of our students achieved a strong pass in English which is the equivalent of a low B and high C. More impressive is that 83 % of our students gained a standard pass which is the equivalent of a C.
In Maths 63% of students achieved a strong pass and 82% gained a standard pass.
Bishop’s also excelled this year in a number of other subjects with Science, Food Technology, French, Spanish, German, Drama and Music all achieving over 70% A* - C.
Eight of our students have achieved all A* – A with an 8 or 9 in English and Maths in their ten subjects.
Headteacher Sara Catlow-Hawkins commented “I am delighted that all the hard work of our students and staff has brought such a fantastic set of results.”
