Promoting Careers Through the Curriculum
We recognise that every teacher plays a vital role in preparing our students for their future. Careers education is not confined to one department, it is embedded in everything we teach. By linking our subjects to the world of work, we help students understand the relevance of their learning and inspire them to explore a wide range of career possibilities.
We encourage all teachers to make explicit connections between their subject content, employability skills, and real-world applications. Whether through classroom discussions, guest speakers, workplace examples, or curriculum projects, every interaction can help students see how their learning translates into future opportunities.
If you have an idea for a visitor from the world of work, or would like to organise a careers-related trip or activity, please contact Lisa Williams. She can offer guidance, help with arrangements, and ensure that these opportunities are aligned with our wider careers strategy.
Your insights and experiences are essential as we continue to strengthen our whole-school approach to careers education. We welcome both positive feedback and constructive suggestions on how we can better support you in integrating careers into your teaching. Together, we can ensure that every student leaves Bishops with the confidence, curiosity, and knowledge to take their next steps.
CAREERS EVENTS AT BHBS
Herefordshire & Ludlow College Catering & Hospitality
For the past four years, students from years 10 and 11 have had the opportunity to attend an outreach event at the Cider Orchard restaurant at Herefordshire & Ludlow College.
The students worked with the Hospitality & Catering team using seasonal produce in a realistic working environment and produced an outstanding four-course lunch for the colleges restaurant guests.

FH Dale Visit

In November, FH Dale hosted twelve of our Year 10 pupils giving them an insight into steel fabrication and engineering.
Students were given a detailed talk on the various aspects of the business from estimation through to production, delivery and construction. The huge range of career options were discussed within the industry. They also had a tour of the workshops housing state of the art equipment.
